Move your Strong history into TrainRec

Export your workouts from Strong as a CSV file, then hand it to your assistant or import it straight into TrainRec from the Profile tab. Every workout, exercise, set, weight and rep comes across, and your body measurements can follow in a second file.

How it gets in

Best results: your assistant. A connected assistant reads any export whole, fixes dates and units as it goes, and can bring in food and measurements, not just workouts. Coach, the chat built into TrainRec, is best for telling it what you did and for small pasted pieces. The other routes are there when you'd rather not involve either.

  • Through your assistantConnect or CoachBest results

Export the file from Strong, attach it in your connected assistant's chat (Claude today) and say "Import this into TrainRec". It reads the whole file, sorts out odd dates, units and exercise names, and moves everything in with TrainRec's import tools, as one batch you can undo in one tap. With Coach, the chat built into TrainRec, describe what you did ("log my last two weeks: bench 3x5 at 185 on Monday...") or paste a small piece of the export, up to about a couple of weeks at a time. If something looks off afterward, just say so and it fixes it.

  • Directly, in the appEvery plan, including Free

In TrainRec, open Profile, then Import workouts, and pick the file from Strong. No assistant needed. Everything lands as one batch, and one tap undoes it.

Export from Strong

The workout CSV has one row per set: the date, workout name, exercise, set number, weight, reps, distance, time and notes. Body measurements export as a separate file.

  1. Open Strong's settings. In Strong, open the Profile tab, then the gear icon.
  2. Export your workouts. Tap Export Workouts (older versions say Export Strong Data on iPhone, or Export Data on Android) and save the CSV to Files or send it to yourself.
  3. Export your measurements too. If you log body measurements, tap Export Measurements in the same place for a second file.
  4. Bring it into TrainRec. Attach the file in your assistant's chat and say "Import this into TrainRec". Or pick the file in TrainRec under Profile, then Import workouts.
  5. Check it in TrainRec. Your history shows up on the calendar and in your records. Something look off? Ask your assistant to fix it. You can also undo the whole batch from Changes.

Good to know

  • Older Strong exports use semicolons instead of commas. TrainRec reads both.
  • Weights come out in whatever unit Strong is set to, with no unit column. TrainRec reads the unit from the file, and your assistant can confirm it if it's unclear.

My Strong review, from the person who built TrainRec

My own views as a longtime user, not a claim by TrainRec. I make TrainRec, so I’m not neutral.

I love Strong. It’s a well-made lifting log, and I used it for a long time. My frustrations were with the Apple Watch side. One day I sat in the gym parking lot for 30 minutes trying to get it to sync to my watch, and that’s when I started building TrainRec. I wanted the watch to just work, and I wanted my AI assistant to see every set.

If Strong works for you, keep using it. You can bring your history into TrainRec any time.

Also asked

Does Strong work on Apple Watch?

Yes. Strong has an Apple Watch app that logs workouts with or without your iPhone, and shows your heart rate and calories as you go. It needs watchOS 10 or later.

Does Strong work with Garmin?

Strong's help center doesn't list a Garmin connection. The TrainRec app on your Garmin follows your plan set by set, and your Strong history can come into TrainRec too. See how to import from Garmin Connect at trainrec.app/import/garmin-connect.

Does Strong sync with Strava?

Strong doesn't list Strava among its connections. Your Strava runs and rides can come into TrainRec next to your Strong lifts, so one log holds both. See trainrec.app/import/strava.

How much does Strong cost?

Strong is free to use, with unlimited workouts and up to 3 custom routines. Strong PRO removes the routine limit. On the US App Store in October 2026 it was $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, and there's also a one-time Strong PRO Forever purchase. Prices vary by country and offer.

Can I bring my Strong templates?

The export holds your workouts, not your templates. Since every workout comes across with its exercises, sets and weights, ask your assistant to rebuild your templates as a weekly plan from your history.

Can I move from Strong to Hevy, or back?

Hevy can import a Strong CSV (in English) from its Export & Import Data settings. Strong says its exported files can't be imported back into Strong. TrainRec reads both apps' files, so you can keep your whole history together whichever one you used.
